If you are accepted to work in association
with us we will have considered several important factors:
CAN YOU MEET THE REQUIREMENTS -
1) Do you have the qualifications to meet our criteria, and
2) Do you have the necessary, positive character traits. 3) Do you live in a part of the world that needs protection services. 4) Are additional agents needed in your area?
If you work in association with us, you will be assigned a Personal Counselor who has the experience to answer questions and work as your mentor. Below is information concerning necessary qualifications, especially the Theory of Non-Confrontation. This means if a client ever sees a gunfight or a hand-to-hand combat, the bodyguard has failed in his first responsibility. A confrontation can end in the death of the client and the bodyguard. Even if they manage to escape the confrontation in good shape, there is also the possibility the matter will be picked up by Television or the newspaper. A client does not want this type of publicity.
CONTACT INFO & COMMUNICATIONS:
If you want to contact us, we prefer e-mail. This gives us a hard copy of the communication. We get hundreds of e-mails, but they are easier to handle than the number of telephone calls we receive. Please consider: many of the e-mails we receive are almost anonymous. This is not intentional on the part of the sender. If you want an answer include your name and locale.
PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR FULL NAME AND CITY WHEN YOU E-MAIL US.
If you send an email and need information, and then sign it: JOHN. We have no way to track it down. It resolves itself to – which John, in what city, country or galaxy can we find "John." If we have a pay check for a John – where do we send it, and to what "John."
TELEPHONE CONTACT:
We, of course, have more than one
telephone number. The one you have is our public number. Your
counselor is the only one authorized to communicate with you. You can
reach him at
817-491-9810
If you want to talk to someone on the phone, email us first and let us have your
name, contact phone # and a time to call.
If you do not do this, it may be difficult to speak with you!!
UNDERSTAND: Daily we receive more
calls than we can respond to immediately . A large percentage of these calls are
just an intrusion into our business time. In the US the telephone industry has
turned into a war, and telephone company representatives call constantly: recently, in one
day, we were contacted by seven different companies wanting to know if we had
"only a minute to discuss our long distance needs." They won’t
accept "no," and our policy is to hang up on them. Some call right
back, but caller ID assists in ignoring them. We also get many calls soliciting
charity contributions, sales of some type, and perhaps the most irritating is a
computer voice telling us to: please do not hang up, the following message is
important to you (and no, we do not need our septic tank cleaned. We don’t
have one.)
We've received messages stating that our Telephone Number has been
disconnected. all this means is someone dialed the wrong number.
Many callers forget "time zones" and try to reach us at odd
hours. When it is noon in our area, it is 6am in Europe.
SO, USE EMAIL TO CONTACT
US. INCLUDE YOUR NAME, CITY AND PHONE NUMBER AND WE'LL PAY THE LONG
DISTANCE FEE TO GET BACK WITH YOU. WE DO HAVE CLIENT PHONE SERVICE 24
HOURS. THIS NUMBER IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR ANYONE BUT CLIENTS. SPEAK
CLEARLY SO WE CAN UNDERSTAND YOU.
SO HELP: we use voice mail
services to accept our calls, and we can screen out unwanted solicitations. If you are
one of our associates, your counselor will want to speak with you, and if you
leave a clear message he will attempt to return the call. If you do not receive
an answer in a short time, email us, tell us you would like to discuss something
over the phone, and then include name, telephone number, city, country and a
GOOD TIME TO CALL YOU. If you are outside the continental US please
include your country code.
If you live outside the United States,
remember the time zones. We are on Central Daylight Time. At 12 noon here, it is
6pm in London.
The Physical Skills:
Experience in martial arts, weapons use, driving techniques and other physical skills are important; but they are secondary qualities. The important question: do you possess the awareness to understand that a bodyguard’s first responsibility is that of Non-Confrontation? This means your duties are to keep a client from harm’s way. Are you psychologically capable of utilizing a non-confrontational approach? This is very important: if the client is ever involved in a confrontation, the bodyguard has failed in his first responsibility.
Because the theory of non-confrontation is important to us, and you, does not mean we are pacifists. We can't completely rely on non-confrontation, and the more physical skills you possess the better. It is valuable if you have a military, police, security, or a martial art background; even good street awareness can be a positive asset.
Can you qualify as a professional bodyguard?
If you can qualify as one of our associate agents you will find the profession offers an exciting lifestyle and top income. It also has many fringe benefits: International travel, a lifestyle that includes living among and working with the very rich, along with prestige and personal fulfillment. (Note: travel is optional, it is not required.)
The International Bodyguard Network receives hundreds of letters asking what qualifications an individual must have to work as a bodyguard. Most of the questions mirror the misconceptions about the profession.
Our files are filled with letters and photos. Some of the photos emphasize the mistaken image in many people's minds. One letter states, I'd be a good bodyguard because I'm a professional wrestler. A photo of the gentleman shows him wearing a black hood and includes his professional name: "The Hooded Killer." Although he may be a good wrestler, this does not qualify him as a bodyguard. It also shows he knows very little about marketing himself. (For information on marketing yourself see Lesson 11 of OMNI's Training Program.)
Still another photo is of an old lifer in a full Marine Corp dress uniform. The accompanying letter explained the experience and traits that he believed would make him a professional bodyguard. He wrote, I've been a marine for thirty years, therefore I would be a good bodyguard. He's mistaken. Thirty years made him a good marine, but not a bodyguard. We have other photos of martial artists performing action kicks; ex-police officers in uniform; gun lovers with a .44 Magnum in each hand; giants with "killer" written across their foreheads; private investigators wearing a badge on their lapel; and many other examples of the macho image many people have about the profession.
Consider: police, military, martial arts, wrestling, weapon experience etc. can all be positive factors; but thirty years in the marines makes a good marine, police experience makes a good officer, and karate experience can create a champion. These factors, while important, do not necessarily qualify an individual as a bodyguard, but they are valuable secondary traits. This mind-set must be replaced with an awareness of close-personal protection as a profession that stresses non-confrontation. This simply means that the bodyguard's responsibility is to keep his client from harm's way and never be forced into a dangerous conflict. If a bodyguard keeps this in the forefront of his techniques it is awareness that can turn thirty years in the marines into a positive asset. It is the same with police or military experience, learn the theory of non-confrontation and these can be valuable experience backgrounds. More important than martial arts or guns is the ability to plan ahead, to foresee potential difficulties, and to out think the bad guys. These traits are the prime responsibility.
(OMNI Institute publishes a very good, enjoyable Training Program – It is sold by bodyguards we have helped start their own companies. They are franchised distributors of the Training Program. The Enrollment Fee is paid to them. The money they earn assists in supporting their companies while the start their businesses. For information about the training, sales price, etc., contact one of them at the Web Site Address here:
http://www.bushido.cc/spectrum
http://www.bodyguard.demon.co.uk
They will be happy to assist you. Bryan Wright, Protection Specialist is in London; John Tobin, Spectrum, works in Colorado - USA, Give them an opportunity to know you - and perhaps at some future date they will have a position open for you.
This training program is important enough we recommend it highly and believe it will speed your success with us faster than almost anything else. It doesn't take much time to complete it, but the information included may save your client's life - and yours.
CONFIDENTIALITY
The following is a pledge of confidentiality we make to our clients, and you.
Privacy has become one of the true luxuries of our time. We protect the privacy of our clients and bodyguards. We expect you to make the same pledge to your clients - and to us. We will not provide information concerning you to anyone for any reason. We will keep all information confided to us completely secret, and will not place you in jeopardy with your present employer. For instance: if one of our associate bodyguards receives a telephone call we will not give any information to the caller. We will ask for caller's name and number; then, it will be forwarded to you to handle as you please.
We receive many calls and e-mails wanting a list of our bodyguards to "check us out." We will not give clients or bodyguards as references. Their privacy belongs to them.
TO OUR CLIENTS:
A PLEDGE
Our organizational structure is similar to one of the largest, most successful private investigating firms in the world. When you, as our client, hire one of our bodyguard s/he works for you - not us.
Confidentiality is almost a religion with us. Our bodyguard's lives are their own. We protect their privacy, they protect their client's privacy, and we - in return - expect them to protect ours.
Our associate bodyguards are sworn to keep matters on a one-on-one basis and assure the client's privacy. This is more important than most people realize: we are living in a historical time when even the most privileged information is readily available for anyone willing to pay for it. Your bodyguard's loyalty belongs to you, not us. Your private life is yours, just as the bodyguard's belongs to him. We protect the bodyguard, he protects the client – and we all honor privacy as a matter of survival.
Our bodyguard's are thoroughly screened. They have impeccable credentials. They honor their word after it has once been given. Then, when your bodyguard has completed his/her work, s/he returns any files relating to the assignment to you. Your privacy is not shared, even with us.
We are not "name droppers." We pledge that your identity will not be revealed as a reference or disclosed to any institution or organization.
Our Protection Specialists receive the same consideration: their identity is kept secret for their safety, and the safety of their relationships. We have one answer for the many self-authorized bureaus in our country: "If you want information about us, our agents or clients, get a court order." This same message is given to the press.
A Low Profile Image Is Necessary -
Professional bodyguards quickly learn the necessity of keeping their lives private. Most bodyguards do not list their telephone numbers, and refrain from broadcasting their address at all times. This is especially true if they have a family that can be placed at risk. One of the most frightening threats that can be encountered is a simple one: I know where your family lives. (This threat will frighten anyone - even the most courageous.)
An innocent "Here's my address, pick me up at the house" can turn into a nightmare if the wrong person obtains the information. A professional knows there are many ways to track down an address, and does everything he can to avoid the stalker who has learned how to use the County Clerk's office. He also drives with his eye on the rear view mirror to see if he is being tailed. One of the best ways to see if you are being followed is to exit the freeway, cross the intersecting street, and re-enter the freeway. Did anyone exit and re-enter?
We suggest you separate your private and professional life. Apply for a Post Office Box and use it as your home/business address. The Post Office will not release a box holder's physical address to anyone unless the box has been rented in a company name. We strongly suggest an unlisted telephone number, and then use caution when you hand it out, although it is possible to list a number with the Telephone Company, and ask them not to include the address.
We are very concerned with our home office employee’s safety, and do not like to give our physical address to individuals we do not know. The only way anyone can locate our physical office is if we furnish the address. There's a very good reason for this policy, one you should consider for yourself.
During the years 1993-1995 we provided the protection teams for a well-known Dallas physician. He performed abortions during the first trimester. The pro-life groups targeted him for constant harassment and threats. Day and night he was harassed, his neighbors were disturbed and frightened and the hospital he was affiliated with was picketed. The groups discovered we were furnishing the protection teams and started picketing our building. The Ku-Klux-Klan joined in the fun and we received so many threats on our lives we started telling them to come in and take a number. Another frightening incident occurred when some of our agents banded together and took a young girl out of a motorcycle gang's home territory. Subsequently, we had bikers riding around our building shouting threats and obscenities. Since that time we have tended to guard our physical address. Of course, it has already been made available to you.
Protect yourself, keep your home safe. For example, you never know when you might protect a woman who has a husband who lives way out in left field. You sure don't want him stalking you - or your family.
NOTE: There are many
reasons to keep your address private. This can be an inconvenience. We have
applicants who fill in an application, but refuse to give their names or
addresses. A few years back we had a Protection Specialist who had been employed
by a Saudi Prince. He didn’t want his picture, name or address published –
or distributed to anyone, for any reason. We wondered if he was being paranoid.
We, of course, honored his request. We were left wondering until two very
efficient Arab gentlemen came by the office looking for him. On the other hand,
there is no way we can work without a valid mailing address. It reduces down to:
provide us with name and mailing address or there is no way we can carry the
matter further. There’s several ways this can be done: 1) post office box (do
not use a company name or post office will provide box holder’s address); 2)
there are many mail drop services available; 3) some telephone answering
companies who will provide mailing services. On the other hand, when you
send an application to us there is no way it can be intercepted; you can trust
us to keep it confidential.
IMPORTANT! IF YOU FEEL YOUR IDENTITY WILL BE A THREAT, WE SUGGEST YOU USE A
CODE NAME. SOME OF OUR SPECIALISTS USE NAMES LIKE "ARCHANGEL,"
"LOBO," "SPECIALIST," "PHOENIX,"
"DRAGON." YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR OWN PSEUDONYM.
We are pledged to your privacy; we do not broadcast information
about anyone who is working in association with us.
SAMURAI, Incorporated
We are a division of Samurai, Inc. As we move on, you'll learn that the Samurai Warrior was the first bodyguard; his life was pledged to the safety and well being of his lord. We hope you have seen the movie THE BODYGUARD with Kevin Costner. The original title of this movie was THE SAMURAI. You will be one of the modern day Samurai Warriors. Your honor is important to your client, to us - and to you. Maintain it in all your relationships.
Frequently asked questions:
How should I contact you?
USE EMAIL AS INSTRUCTED ABOVE: letter, telephone, and email. We prefer an email for quick, almost immediate response. You can reach us by phone at (817) 491-9810. This is our Texas telephone number. Many times you will not get an immediate response, but will receive a Voice Mail Message. This means we cannot be available to you twenty four hours a day. If we cannot respond when the phone rings leave a message and we will return your call as quickly as possible. If we return your call there is an advantage for you: we pay the long distance fees. Please speak clearly, slowly, and repeat your name and number. We lose some calls because we cannot understand the speaker. This is the most efficient way we have to respond to your call. It saves us a lot of time because we do not have to talk to telephone solicitors, wannabe bodyguards, curiosity seekers and other calls important to the caller, but which we prefer not to receive. If we do not return your call in a reasonable length of time, e-mail us that you would like to speak to your counselor. Give him a time and day to call.
Clients are provided a private number and a File Code so that we can speak to them immediately. Calls from the client line are answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Why is the client my employer?
The answer to this is simple: the client is your employer because he is the individual (or corporation) you will be working for. It is up to him to pay you, make IRS and Social Security deductions, provide you with insurance, guarantees of legalities, etc. The International Bodyguard Network is a worldwide organization, and it would be impossible for us to meet the various country laws or state policies in each locale.
How much can I earn as a bodyguard?
There are no set fees for the bodyguard. All fees are arranged by negotiation. The more skills you have, the more experience the more you can earn. We have one woman bodyguard earning $125,000 per year plus bonuses. She had the qualities and skills to fulfill the requirements of the position. She’s working in Saudi Arabia. She obtained the job because she spoke Arabian very fluently, knew how to live and abide by the moral ethic of the country. She was very skilled in martial arts and an expert with all weapons (eight years in the USMC). She spoke other languages and could act as an interpreter whenever her client traveled. We have bodyguards with all types of experience. The former Secret Service agents with us have some of the best training in the world - and the best experience. They can expect a fee at the high end of the charts. On the other hand, we have individuals who have extensive security experience, but do not have the close-personal protection experience of others. Their earning contracts are negotiated for the locale, the situation and other factors involved. Their pay can range from a minimum of $350 per day up to $700 a day. So each contract is different, it is negotiated for the bodyguard and the location as well as the degree of hazard involved. Many bodyguards earn in excess of $70,000 annually. In addition, we have some inexperienced but well trained individuals with us who can gain experience working in association with other bodyguards or who can handle situations that simply demand a presence to act as a deterrent.
Will I have to be licensed?
Some states have started licensing bodyguards. All states have one "exemption" in common, it is a simple, Constitutionally guarantee, one. You are not required to be licensed if you are working for a client as an employee; of course, you will be. This is a difficult question, so if you need information speak to your counselor.
Should I get a permit to carry a concealed weapon?
This is a matter for you to decide. If you learn how to work in a non-confrontational manner, a weapon would not truly be necessary; still, most bodyguards carry a firearm as insurance. you can contact OMNI Institute at jbushido@yahoo.com They charge a $10 fee to provide copies of the state gun laws. We suggest you speak to your client, ask him if he wants you to carry a weapon. If he does, perhaps we can negotiate with him to pay the fees for you.
Exactly how does the "Bodyguard Network" function?
We network with companies, Private Investigators, and other bodyguards all over the world. Many of our client contacts result from our affiliation with them - and you.
Our greatest marketing tool is our INTERNET DOMAIN Web Address. This is the Web Site you have already discovered. We have two web addresses for the site: 1) http://www.samurai-warrior.com, and the other, 2) www.bodyguard.nu - Actually we have several Web Sites to insure we can receive all the bodyguard contacts we can. The Internet is our primary marketing tool, and most of our working assignments come through e-mail responses as a result. We are also "linked" with many other companies, search engines, and protection directories. We receive hundreds of responses as a result of our links.
Another important aspect, both for the IBN and the bodyguard, is the use of E-mail. We can e-mail any information anyplace in the world without expense. If we want to promote bodyguards in a certain locality, we can use e-mail to reach the people who are seeking protection. Your resume can be sent from one part of the world to another, or to a prospective client in your area. (OMNI Institute, a corporation with whom we work very closely, creates resumes for our bodyguards, and there is no resume fee. OMNI has other important services available if you request them.)
In brief, we get results because we know what to do, how to do it, and who to contact. Some of our assignments come from networking services with companies and individual bodyguards all over the world. While most of our results come from our INTERNET Site, below are recent assignments we procured because of networking/referrals.
HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES -
| (1) recently we received an e-mail from a gentleman who lives on the island of Cypress in the Mediterranean Sea. He stated his problem: he was a wealthy businessman who is required to travel. He has a family: a pregnant wife and a three-year-old son. There's excessive crime and civil unrest in his vicinity. He wanted protection for his family when he is traveling, and a protective chauffeur when he is home. It's a common problem. He had reviewed resumes in our Web Site's bodyguard directory. He was interested in speaking with one of our people in Hong Kong and another in the United Kingdom. Both of these bodyguards were on assignment and could not accept the offer. The gentleman finally ended up working with a bodyguard from Los Angeles (the important reason is he could speak four languages.) The benefits were good: large salary, a private car for his use, expenses, living quarters, insurance and travel expenses paid for the bodyguard to make visits to his home. We now have several bodyguards on Cyprus - one of our best is a former Russian Military Officer. |
| (2) One of our agents in the State of Washington secured a contract to provide protection in the Phillipines. The client needed a complete team. Our bodyguard associate contacted us; we suggested several other bodyguards to work with the team. It was a large contract and fees were very high because of the hazardous conditions that prevailed. | |
| (3) A similar situation: One of our bodyguards, who is also a Private Detective in New York City, landed a South American contract; he needed additional people. He networked with us, and now there is a complete team working in Brazil. They are protecting officers of a large computer company that has received kidnap threats. | |
| (4) A lower key, short-term e-mail stated: My ex-wife kidnapped my children six months ago. She is now under indictment and is scheduled to make an appearance in court (A state felony), for unlawful flight to Avoid Prosecution (Federal). When she arrives to appear in court she is almost certain to make an attempt to contact me. I need someone to prevent her entry to my property, guard us while we are at home and watch my children when my absence is required. I believe a show of authority will prevent a confrontation or violence. I'm requesting assistance to prevent potential trouble and hope your associates can assist in this short-term problem. Assistance is need for a week of 0-00-00. We set a fee of $500 per day per bodyguard plus expenses. The gentleman didn't expect violence, but the short-term contract signed includes double pay if situation should accelerate into a hazardous confrontation (It's possible she'd appear with a boyfriend, etc.) Of course, not all of our assignments are high profile like the above. With the exception of #4, the above assignments required highly qualified bodyguards with experience and training. In situation #3, we managed to send two apprentice bodyguards to work and learn with the team. Look through the bodyguard directory in our site at http://www.samurai-warrior.com - discover that many, many of our associates are very highly qualified. Some have worked as presidential bodyguards; many are former military or police officers. Several have provided protection for Saudi Arabian princes. |
This doesn't mean that everyone must be ex-secret service or have this type of experience. There are entry level positions that pay well, and even starting level contracts are very high. A minimum of $350 a day, double time for hazardous duty, insurance, expenses, and many other benefits. (Your employee/bodyguard contract is featured and explained in one of the lessons in the Training Program from OMNI Institute.
I have a lot of experience, should I sign up for the Training Program published by OMNI Institute?
We think so or we would not make it
available to you. This program can be the most important part of all training
you may have. It’s titled "The Theory of Non-Confrontation," but it
also covers many other aspects of the profession you will not discover any
place else. For instance: if you are going to work as a bodyguard you’ll find
it is not a "job" with hourly pay. You work as a professional selling
your protective services to a client. This requires a protection contract. The
contract is to protect you, your client and us. It’s a lengthy contract and
stipulates many things: amount of fees, expenses, transportation, licenses,
insurance, guarantee of legalities and many others. If you were hired for a
valuable position you would not want to work without a contract. It is for your
benefit; the clients, and ours. Go to a lawyer, and he will probably not
know enough to write a contract without extensive research. An attorney more
than likely will charge between $1000 to $1500 to
write the contract. An entire lesson is included in the Training Program about
the contract: each clause is explained, plus an actual copy of the contract. It’s
doubtful that an attorney could write as good a contract as this one, and it’s
yours when you have the Study Program. On top of that, you receive a beautiful
Certificate from Omni showing you have completed it. The Certificate looks very
impressive in your Dossier.
Do I have to travel?
No. Travel is up to you. Most travel requirements are for short-term periods. Only a few are as exotic as the examples above. Your Working Agreement specifies how much you are to be paid in your home area, and how much more will be paid if you must escort a client for a weekend trip.
Can I work part time?
Yes, of course. Understand though, you are not required to do anything. You have certain rights as an Independent Agent, and you are free to select and choose. We prefer clients who need full time protection. These are usually assignments with large corporations. We'd rather be paid a fee based on an annual rate than one for a two or three day period. We will assist with part time assignments in your home city.
How much do I have to pay the International Bodyguard Network for an assignment? Nothing. The client pays these expenses. Your paycheck is between you and your employer - the client.
How do I know you won't take advantage of me? As an answer to this common question we'll ask two questions in return? 1) How could we? 2) Why would we? And 3) Would we dare - check the resumes on our site: you'll find former Chief's of Police, Investigators, Secret Service Officers, Drug Enforcement Officers, Police Officers, Military Investigators. Would you care to take advantage of these professionals, and have them after you. THANKS BUT NO THANKS.
The International Bodyguard Network, a division of Samurai, Inc., provides services on an International basis. We were founded in the early 1980s; we are well known, established, and our reputation is impeccable. One of the reasons for our success is we work only with individuals who inherently possess the necessary physical, intellectual and social skills to work successfully as protection specialists. Our name, Samurai, is symbolic of the services we provide; it is a name we are proud of, and we strive to honor it by providing only the highest quality Network and Internet services. Our motto is simple: Loyalty / Honor / Vigilance. We expect this to be your motto.
In closing, one last thought: our profession is demanding, rigorous and dangerous; it requires a dedicated individual who can live the lifestyle of the professional Protection Specialist. And the lifestyle is rewarding; the bodyguard works with the very rich, the famous, the celebrities, the CEOs of large corporations and the VIPs of the world. The bodyguard lives, travels and enjoys the luxury and lifestyle of his client. If the client is staying in a world class hotel, the bodyguard is with him - and not across the street in the Blue Top Courts. If the client is dining in a five-star restaurant, the bodyguard is in attendance and is not expected to have a Pizza delivered to his room. If the client is traveling in a Lear Jet, the bodyguard does not tag along behind in a Piper Cub.
BODYGUARD SCHOOLS?
Should I attend a bodyguard school? That depends. Most of our applicants know how to protect themselves - and others. If you have enough confidence in yourself to apply for a bodyguard position, you probably have the necessary physical skills. If you don't, you are not going to learn them by attending a school that lasts for perhaps a week, and costs hundreds of dollars. The small schools that provide weekend training programs are expensive, and you probably will not receive quality training. We suggest that you do not attend a bodyguard school with the idea it can assist in landing a job. It is doubtful that any client will want to hire a bodyguard who has just graduated from a bodyguard school. The skills you can learn from a good school can assist you in performing your duties; but will not influence a potential client. If you have attended a school, and discovered it was a true learning experience, then put the fact in your resume, and let it go at that.
How else can I get training?
First and we can't stress the importance, complete the Training Program offered by OMNI Institute. If nothing else, it can provide you with answers to most of the questions you may have. If you want to enter the profession you probably have considered your qualifications and know you can take care of yourself - and a client. We can suggest some very good schools you can attend, but do not do so if you already have the skills most of them teach: weapons and martial arts. Your most economical training can be located in your home city. If you feel you need better close combat skills, check with a dojo in your city. If you get started, remain in training, learn all you can; but understand, you can't learn a martial art in a weekend school or even one that lasts for two weeks. Your best training is "on-the-job" training. If you are working as one of our associate bodyguards it's possible that we can refer you to one of our professionals to work on an "apprentice" basis.
Why am I given fourteen days to respond? If I submit an application and it is approved, why must I respond within fourteen days. There are several answers to this question. First, we want you to have time to consider, think and make a decision. We do not want a hasty decision that does not entail a commitment on your part. We want you to have the opportunity to check us out. Second, we usually have applicants from the same area. We won't respond to the second applicant until we hear from you. We prefer not to leave someone hanging. We do not want a pressure-induced answer: so take your time, we want a commitment only after careful consideration on your part.
